Cornerstone's Food Pantry
Twice each month Cornerstone's Food Pantry distributes a massive amount of food and clothing to people in need in our community. Just this past week the Food Pantry distributed nearly $10,000 worth of food, including 350 frozen chickens, numerous loaves of bread and pastries, canned and dry goods, and spiral-cut hams. In total, we gave out bags of food to 387 families, which will benefit 1,722 individuals! Although it's not the main focus of the Food Pantry, we also give away many bags of clothing that people have donated. Often, the Food Pantry provides additional community services, such as healthcare screenings and Affordable Care Act assistance. That's just part of the story. The Food Pantry has developed key partnerships with other businesses and organizations, such as Farm Share, Publix, Aldi's, Feeding South Florida, Assurant, Branches, Inc., other food pantries, and several local schools. Many community volunteers come to us from area businesses and organizations. It's a unique blend of community interests joining with the church for a common cause. Moreover, Food Pantry volunteers develop special relationships with the people of our community.
Volunteer duties and responsibilities
Come to a Food Pantry distribution at 7:30-9:30 a.m. on the first or third Saturday of the month to see how it all happens. Or you can visit on a Friday afternoon before a distribution day to help get set up, or the Tuesday of that week to help unload the food. God is doing some amazing things through the Food Pantry, so don't miss out on the blessing of making a real difference!
