United Methodist Full Connection Writing Retreat, a three day writing retreat offered at Duke Divinity School on September 11-13, 2017.
The retreat provides an opportunity for you to focus on writing your Full Connection papers in a supportive and Spirit-filled environment. You will have set-aside time and space for reading, writing and reflecting alongside daily opportunities to engage with United Methodist faculty, staff, and other provisional members, including optional informal coffee breaks with faculty. After orientation lunch on Monday, the entirety of your schedule is determined by your goals and interests.
Your time at the writing retreat includes the following amenities: editing support from the Center for Theological Writing at Duke Divinity School, accommodations at the Homewood Suites in Durham, parking on campus, library privileges, access to Duke Divinity School community activities, and continuing education units.
Please register quickly as the deadline for registration is August 10. If you elect to submit a writing sample for editing prior to the retreat, you must turn in your writing sample by August 15. You may also submit your writing sample after the retreat.
If you have any questions about this event, please send an email with the subject line “United Methodist Full Connection Writing Retreat” to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also review the information for the event and register at https://divinity.duke.edu/events/united-methodist-full-connection-seminar.
North GA is working with Candler School of Theology to offer a workshop to help our candidates prepare for BOM interviews - both provisional and full connection. The workshop is October 9-10 at Candler and will focus on the Doctrine Questions from the 2016 BOD. We would like to extend an invitation to the candidates in other conferences, and hope you will pass along this information to them.
Here is the registration link: https://www.etouches.com/bomworkshop
The cost is $250 for anyone not from the North GA Conference and who isn't currently in seminary. Those who are current seminary students (any university senate approved school) can attend for $50. Everyone is responsible for their own travel and housing arrangements. The confirmation letter includes a list of local hotel and transportation options.
The workshop begins with lunch on Monday and will finish by 3pm on Tuesday. We have a flyer about the event and I've post that in the document section (BOOM Poster.pdf) so you can access and send it along to folks.
We do not plan on offering the workshop in 2018, only on the odd years, so folks would need to plan accordingly. Our provisional candidates who just completed their first year, will be attending, as the workshop in 2019 would be after they hopefully are ordianed in June 2019.
