The Sheltering Tree in Bunnell opened its doors for the third consecutive night Tuesday as below-average temperatures continued in Flagler and Volusia counties. Several homeless men and women, and/or families just needing a warm place to stay, milled around the shelter early Tuesday afternoon waiting for the doors to open. As evening approached, guests seeking to escape the cold night began trickling into the camp-style living quarters, where about two dozen blanketed cots awaited them.
