I teach reading to seniors who have not passed the FCAT reading test at Lehigh Senior High School. Last October (2013), for the first round, the other teacher and I employed every type of reading strategy we knew to improve the passing rate. It turned out to be terrible -14% passing. What to do? My wife said, "We will launch a prayer ministry for our church to pray for them.” Okay, put it in God's hands with a full church praying for them. We gave it a name STP - Success Through Prayer. The church members had a card with the first name of a senior and were to pray three times a day, from March 21 to April 20. The test came and PRAYER WORKS. THE DATA PROVED IT. The seniors I tutored had the highest pass rate in the county of all 11 high schools - 42%. What did we do differently?
