Spiritual Formation at the conference level may be considered a facilitator of the “inward” life, rather than the “outward.” We exist to resource local congregations with tools and opportunities for transformational spiritual growth. We believe healthy Christian formation should always result in changed individual lives and that Christ-shaped lives change the world.
We recognize that individuals are receptive to God in very different ways. Local congregations have the joyous opportunity to expose their flock to this breadth of modalities, but pastors and staff are at times short on resources for formation beyond their own primary style(s) of connection to God. Our hope and intention is to curate resources and create opportunities for the diversity of people across the Florida connection to continue their journeys of formation. The streams of intellectual, liturgical, and contemplative formation have been generally well-represented in the mainline United Methodist experience; in addition, we intend to prioritize the voices of and for practitioners of color and dip into the streams of asceticism, enthusiasm, and more as we curate and develop resources for the Florida Conference
