September 2016 District News

Message from District Superintendent

It has been a busy summer. So far, Jay has been able to visit 34 churches in the district and has 17 more visits scheduled in September. Our office has been busy. We have been learning all about our churches, clergy and laity. Learning all of the process and procedures for the systems currently in place and thinking about how to better some things for the future.

As we move into fall, we have realized that despite all of the changes in the District Office over the past few months, we are centering ourselves, embracing and accepting all of the changes and at the end of the day, we are honored to be in this ministry with you. To read more about change we invite you to read Jay Therrell's September message. Please click here to read his message

Charge Conference 2016

It is charge conference season. Are you excited? Since this is the first charge conference season with our new team in the district office, we are going to try and keep things very close to what we did last year. Here are a few things to make note of:

  • All forms are due into the district office by October 1, 2016. You can email them to flumc-ne@flumc.org, mail them to our office at 1415 LaSalle Street, Jax 32207 or drop them off (be sure to call our office first to ensure that someone is here to receive you.)
  • It will be the responsibility of the church to prepare a charge conference packet for the presiding elder at your charge conference. Be sure to follow the AGENDA when compiling this packet.
  • If you are with a church that had a pastoral transition, the district superintendent will preside over your charge conference. Each transitioning clergy should have received an email inviting them to sign up for a charge conference date and time.If you did not receive the email, please contact Pam Mullay.
  • If you are with a church that DID NOT have a pastoral transition, you are welcome to set up your own charge conference date and time and select a presiding elder from this list. Please note that each elder should not preside over more than two additional charge conferences outside of their own charge conference. Once your date is set, be sure to email Pam Mullay with the date, time and the name of the presiding elder.
  • Please be sure to conduct your charge conference no later than November 20, 2016 and send any additional signed forms that get approved at charge conference to the district office immediately after your charge conference.
