Beef and Pea Pods

This comes together very fast.

Beef and Pea Pods


Beef, London broil or any 1" thick beef good for stir-fry
2 tablespoons oil
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons cornstarch
6 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup water
Pea pods, either 10 ounce box frozen or 3/4 lb.fresh

Cut beef in strips; brown in oil with garlic.  Remove from pan.
In bowl, mix cornstarch, soy sauce, sugar and water. Pour into browned meat pan, bring to boil, then lower heat until sauce is thickened. Add pea pods, stirring until warmed, then add beef and cook a few minutes longer, stirring to prevent scorching. Adding more water, if necessary is okay, even a cup more. Serve over rice or Chinese noodles. 

The sauce can also be used for other oriental dishes.
