Lou and her family lived on a small horse ranch in Pembroke Pines, FL. She brought this very sweet desert to every covered dish dinner and also served it when they hosted the "Golden Oldies" on their ranch.
Lou Gary's Texas Sheet Cake
Preheat oven to 400
2 cups flour - 2 cups sugar - 1/2 cup oil - 1 cup water - 4 tbs cocoa - 2 eggs - 1 tsp vanilla - 1 tsp cinnamon - 1 tsp baking soda - 1/2 cup buttermilk
Mix flour and sugar together. Combine oil, water, cocoa and bring to boil and stir into flour and sugar mixture.
blend well and then stir in: eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, baking soda and buttermilk.
Pour into greased jelly roll pan or cookie sheet.
Bake at 400 for 20 minutes.
1 stick butter - 6 tbs milk - 4 tbs cocoa - 1 tsp vanilla - 1 box powdered sugar - 1 cup nuts
Bring butter, milk and cocoa to rapid boil. Add vanilla, powdered sugar, nuts and spread on hot cake.
