These are a bite of heaven for mincemeat lovers. Try them instead of pie for Thanksgiving.
1/2 c margarine
1 c packed brown sugar
1 c mincemeat
1 tsp rum or maple flavoring
1-1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped nuts
Glaze for on top when cool (confectioner's sugar and lemon juice)
Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in mincemeat, eggs and flavoring. Add combined dry ingredients; mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread into greased 9x9 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees, approx. 35 minutes. Cool. Glaze. Cut into squares. It makes 15 squares.
