This recipe is from Pat Riggle, a sis-in-law. We make it every holiday!
Home Made English Toffee
1 c. melted butter
1 c. sugar
1 Hershey Bar
Chopped nuts (optional)
In a 4 cup glass bowl, place 1 cup melted butter and whisk in 1 cup sugar.
Put in microwave for 4 minutes on high. Remove and whisk.
Put back in microwave - 30 seconds at a time - whisking after each 30 seconds - until a light caramel color.
Pour into greased cookie sheet with sides. Let cool completely. When cold, loosen from pan. Melt Hershey Bar just until melted. Spread on top with a spatula and top with chopped nuts. When Hershey Bar is set up, break into serving sized pieces.
Keep refrigerated to keep chocolate firm.
