These cookies started with my brother's mother-in-law, in New Orleans. Since the cookies did not have a name, I started calling them NOLA's and they are a huge request with my family and friends.
1 package of sugar cookie dough
1 package of pecans
6 to 8 regular size Milky Way bars, cut up into pieces. Long pieces work great or a bag of the miniature bars
Spread cookie dough out in a 11 x 13 glass baking dish.
Bake for roughly 10-12 minutes (you don’t want them doughy, but you don’t want them brown).
Take out of oven and place cut-up Milky Way bars on top of dough. Dough will be soft and I “lightly” push the candy into the cookie.
Place back in oven for 3 or 4 minutes.
Take out of oven and gently spread the melted candy bars.
Last – add pecans after you spread the candy bars, that way they will stick to the melted candy.
