'Homeless Jesus' sculpture dedication for Ash Wednesday
TAMPA – The Portico, an outreach mission of Hyde Park UMC, will celebrate Ash Wednesday with a special event: dedication of a sculpture titled "Homeless Jesus." Church leaders say the sculpture will provide ongoing witness to the issue of homelessness and the presence of Jesus in the community.
The sculpture of Jesus lying on a park bench is to be installed at the south end of the The Portico breezeway, facing Tyler Street in downtown Tampa. The dedication service is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Feb. 10, followed by an Ash Wednesday service in The Portico Chapel, 1001 N. Florida Ave. For information, call (813) 254-5139 or click here to check out The Portico website.
