STAFF PARISH COMMITTEE TRAINING
There will be a training for all SPR Committee Chairs on Monday, Dec. 10 at Good Samaritan UMC Tallahassee. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM. All churches in the Tallahassee area are asked to have their SPRC Chair in attendance as the District Superintendent shares important information. Please either call our office at 850/893-1116 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you plan to attend.
LAY SERVANT TRAINING
We are pleased to announce that there will be a Lay Servant Training on January 25-26 at Tallahassee Heights UMC, 3004 Mahan Drive. The Basic course will be led by Dr. Chandra Snell; Advanced course "Life Together in the United Methodist Connection" will be led by Jim Catron, NW District Lay Servant Assistant Director; and Advanced course "Living Our United Methodist Beliefs" will be led by Rod Groom, Florida Conference Director of Lay Servant Ministries.
Registration is $40 per class and includes a participant book, dinner on Friday, continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday, as well as coffee and ice tea. Please make checks payable to NW District and note that it is for "Lay Servant Training". The registration deadline is January 9. Click here to register.
CHURCH / PASTOR ANNUAL PROFILES
Church Profiles are to be reviewed and updated annually and must be done by Feb. 1.
All church SPR Committees must update online annually and may begin after December 1, 2018. The Church Profile deadline requires it be completed online no later than one week prior to the pastor’s DS consultation if they are having one.

All pastors must update online annually and may begin after December 1, 2018. The Pastor Profile deadline requires it to be completed online no later than one week prior to the DS consultation. Though you may not anticipate a move, it is important that both the Pastor Profile and Church Profile be current and up to date at the first appointment-making session of the Cabinet. The reports should be an honest reflection of the pastoral ministry and the profile of the church.

January 29 - February 1, 2019 - Epworth By The Sea
Clergy are invited to attend the Winter Conference at Epworth By The Sea, January 29 - February 1, 2019. This will be a combined event with the Bishops and clergy of the North Georgia, Mississippi, South Georgia and Florida Conferences. Dr. Tod Bolinger, author of Canoeing The Mountains, will be the keynote speaker.

The Disaster Recovery Ministry of the Florida Conference is initiating a six-month project, funded by an UMCOR grant, to evaluate needs in the NW District of those impacted by Hurricane Michael. The purpose of the project is to assess, evaluate and discern if there is need for a larger recovery project to assist those who may not have the ability to recover on their own.
We will be hiring a district recovery coordinator and two senior case workers to plan and implement this project in coordination with the District Superintendent and the Conference Disaster Response Coordinator. These are full time, temporary positions that will begin January 2nd. To view position descriptions, please click here.
