November 2017 District Newsletter

November Message from the District Superintendent

We have finally reached November. The time of the year we were focus on giving thanks for all that we are and all that we can do in the name of Jesus.

I am truly thankful, grateful and blessed for my ministry in the District Office. There are very few opportunities that I have had in my professional life where I was happy and joyful and felt that I really did contribute to something bigger than myself.

As you think about the things that you are thankful for, read more about being thankful and celebrating Jesus in the District Superintendent's November Message.

Psalm 9:1 - I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

-Pam Mullay

Super-Charged Conference

  • We are not collecting your charge conference packet before November 11. Bring your packet at that time.
  • There is not a public agenda for you to put into the packet.
  • We only need one copy of your charge conference packet at the event.
  • We will have pre-printed sign-in (attendance) sheets. You don't need to bring your own.
  • Please have one person from each church (preferably the senior pastor) to come to the check-in area and pick up your sign-in sheet.
  • Be there before 9 a.m. We will begin promptly at 9 a.m.
  • We are not serving breakfast or coffee. Be sure to take care of that before you get there.
  • Bring your donations! (see the Charge Conference tips & FAQ document for more information.)
  • Plan to stay for the duration. We are doing great things during this event. We know you don't want to miss anything.
  • Read the Charge Conference Tips & FAQ document for a more extensive overview of the event.
  • 2018 leadership should be entered into the Church Dashboard within seven days of Super-Charged Conference. Click HERE to get the different tutorials. Click on the Leadership link once you are there. There are videos and also printable guide sheets.  Important - Leaders email addresses and phone numbers should be entered.
  • Get ready to have fun, love, learn and lead with us! See you on November 11 @ CrossRoad Church.

Update on Flood Buckets & Hygiene Kits

We have received a number of calls about what to do with flood buckets and hygiene kits they have stored at their church and want to send somewhere. At this point we are delighted to report that the majority of urgent needs for these items as a result of Irma have been met – which is great news!  However, we also know that there are churches who still have these items and don’t know what to do with them, don’t have room to store them, don’t want to store them etc. – and just want to send them somewhere.

First, we want to encourage churches to use the buckets locally if at all possible. Often there are many small ministries in a community that need these kinds of resources after a disaster, but they don’t always know where to find them.  If they cannot be used locally, please contact:

Mike Kirila (260) 466-8622

Mike is a wonderful volunteer who will work with you to figure out what to do with their buckets, etc. Please be sure to contact Mike by November 20th

Jacksonville Icemen Faith & Family Night

Join the District Superintendent as he drops the puck at the Jacksonville Icemen game Faith & Family Night game on Sunday, January 28, 2018 @ 3 p.m. We will also be able to get a group photo on the ice after the game. For more information and to order tickets, please download the event flyer

Apportionments and End of Year Payments

Apportionment payments for 2017 must be received in the lockbox at Regions Bank or paid online by Friday, January 12, 2018. This is not a postmarked by date, but is the last day by which monies must be received in the Conference or our bank lockbox to be included in 2017 apportionments receipts. Any payments received after that date will be applied to 2018 apportionments. Any payments received between January 1 and January 12 must be clearly marked as to which year they are to be applied. All apportionment payments should be accompanied by a completed Remittance Report. Click here to access the Remittance Report on the Conference website. Or to pay online, click here.

Complete the Remittance Form with the following information:

  • Church Name

  • GCFA Number

  • Preparer contact information

  • Allocation amounts for each fund

Any amounts due for Ministry Protection and Health and Benefits at the end of the year will continue to show as outstanding on your statement in 2018. To ensure proper processing of these payments and avoid errors, payments should contain the following information on the check, check stub or statement:

  • Church Name

  • GCFA Number

  • Invoice Number (include all letters and any 0’s)

  • Allocation amounts for each invoice

When mailing payments to Regions take note of the billing address for each of these types of payments. The last 4 numbers after the zip code are different for each, and it is very important to include to ensure your payment is processed properly.

To be considered a 100% connectional church in the Florida Annual Conference Journal, 100% of 2017 apportionments must be received by January 12, 2018, and all outstanding Ministry Protection and Health and Benefits obligations must be received by December 31, 2017.

Fresh Expressions

Yes it is official! I passed the Basic Riders Course and received my certificate that allows me to update my license and officially ride motorcycles. I had a great time at the class last weekend. I even have my own biker vest with my biker name "church girl" on it.

Even though I don't have a motorcycle yet, I am excited to be part of the second ride for a new Fresh Expression entitled Kick Stands Upward. We will meet on November 18. If you are interested in riding with us and know anyone that isn't churched that you would like to invite to come along, please contact me

You can find out more about the Fresh Expressions that are going on in our District by clicking here. If you are doing a Fresh Expression at your church and want it listed in our website, please let me know.                         -Pam Mullay
