Bishop Carter Announces Cabinet Changes

Tony Prestipino, our Conference Treasurer and Director of Administrative Services for the past four years, was recruited and has decided to join Wespath as Director of Plan Sponsor Relations effective February 10. Wespath provides retirement plans, investment solutions and health benefit plans rooted in the principles of The United Methodist Church.

In this position at Wespath, Tony will be responsible for the agency’s overall relationship with plan sponsors and annual conferences.  Between February and April, Tony plans on working at both Wespath and The Florida Conference as we welcome back Mickey Wilson, who will serve as Interim Conference Treasurer.

A search for a permanent Conference Treasurer will occur later. Tony has provided excellent strategic leadership to the administrative and financial life of the Conference. He, his wife Libby, and their two children (Ben and Charlie) will be greatly missed.
Rev. Dan Jackson, District Superintendent of the South West District, announced to his clergy today that he will retire on June 30, 2020 due to health concerns.

Dan has faithfully served as the Chief Missional Strategist in the South West District since his appointment last July. He previously served for six years as our Director of New Church Development, which included the work of New Church Starts, Fresh Expressions, work with legacy churches and more.

Dan’s passion for ministry and wise and strategic mind will be missed. He and his wife Patti will retire to Ohio, where they will be closer to their children and grandchildren.

An announcement about the next South West District Superintendent is forthcoming.

Bishop Ken Carter added his personal reflection on this announcement:
“I give thanks to Dan Jackson and Tony Prestipino for their leadership and friendship,” he said. “They have brought integrity and faithfulness to their work and have each strengthened the mission of the Florida Conference.  I wish them God’s blessings in the next season of their lives.”
