LAKELAND — The Florida Conference Office of Clergy Excellence teamed up with the Florida United Methodist Foundation to offer the Young Clergy Stewardship Academy, a three-day program presented earlier this month at First UMC, Lakeland.
Developed using a $50,000 grant from the United Methodist Young Clergy Initiative Fund, the program targeted clergy 39 and younger, though it was open to older clergy as well. Topics ranged from investment strategies and retirement planning to approaching church members about giving. Academy organizers say they hope more training is on the horizon.
