Update: AC 2014 unable to offer childcare

UPDATE MAY 23: We have secured a space at the Lakeland Center for parents or their designees to sit with their children during Annual Conference. The Media center, located just outside of the area where the Ministry Expo will be held, is reserved for children and parents. We are still finalizing plans for a live video feed of the sessions to be available in the Media Center. We will also endeavor to make arrangements for members’ votes to be counted during the appropriate sessions.
We regret that the Florida United Methodist Conference will not be able to provide offsite childcare at the 2014 Annual Conference event. The churches which graciously provided childcare in the past are unable to offer their facilities this year.
In addition, after exploring a number options for childcare, we have determined that because of State and Federal regulations regarding childcare, the Florida United Methodist Conference is also unable to provide onsite childcare. While we realize the vital importance of childcare, we have encountered challenges beyond our control, which if left unaddressed might compromise the quality of care offered to our children. We hope to provide a space for parents or their designees to sit with their children in the Lakeland Center. We also endeavor to have an audio (with the possibility of a video) feed of the sessions available in the designated space.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause to our families. Please visit www.acflorida.org on Friday, May 25 for updated information on this service. Thank you for your understanding.
