QUINCY, Fla. — The social action committee of Centenary United Methodist Church’s United Methodist Women began a “Knit for Kids” sweater project sponsored by Guideposts magazine more than two years ago.

By the end of last year, the church had sent more than 100 hand-knit sweaters to the magazine.

The church celebrated with sweater Sunday. Each member was asked to wear a sweater to church, bring $1 to help defray the expenses of yarn and postage, and remain after the service for refreshments and fellowship.

During the service that morning 25 sweaters were placed on the altar rail and the Rev. Jack Tilk, pastor at the church, blessed the sweaters and committed them to children around the world.
