Erb, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Aug. 11 after serving The United Methodist Church for 38 years. He became a deacon in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1955 and an elder in 1958. He transferred into the Florida Conference from the Central Pennsylvania Conference in 1973. He retired in 1993. He served Coral Gables United Methodist Church, Mims United Methodist Church, Bokeelia United Methodist Church and Pine Island United Methodist Church. Candice Lorraine Martin The Rev. Candice Lorraine Martin, a Florida Conference elder, died Aug. 14 after serving The United Methodist Church for four years. She became a probationary elder in 2003. She was serving Baldwin United Methodist Church and Bryceville United Methodist Church at the time of her death. She also served Wesley Fellowship United Methodist Church, Jacksonville. Jon Stewart The Rev. Jon Stewart, a lay supply pastor in the Florida Conference, died Nov. 1 after serving The United Methodist Church for five years. He was serving Rainbow Lakes United Methodist Church in Dunnellon at the time of his death. Robert E. Clark The Rev. Robert E. Clark, a Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 4 after serving The United Methodist Church for nine years. He became a deacon in 1971 and an elder in full connection in 1978. He began a leave of absence in 1980. He served Calvary United Methodist Church, Lake Worth; Howe Memorial United Methodist Church, Crescent City; Trinity United Methodist Church, Tallahassee; Lake Jackson United Methodist Church, Tallahassee; Hallandale United Methodist Church; and First United Methodist Church, Green Cove Springs. Harold B. Busey The Rev. Harold Busey, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 9 after serving The United Methodist Church for 27 years. He became a deacon in 1971 and an elder in full connection in 1975. He retired in 1999. He served First United Methodist Church, Lakeland; Marco Island United Methodist Church; Memorial United Methodist Church, Fernandina Beach; St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg; Trinity United Methodist Church, Lighthouse Point; Zellwood United Methodist Church; Union Street United Methodist Church, Clearwater; and First United Methodist Church, Ft. Pierce. Charles P. Hamilton The Rev. Charles Hamilton, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 12 after serving The United Methodist Church for 42 years. He became a deacon in 1950 and an elder in full connection in 1951. He retired in 1991. He served as superintendent of the Sarasota District in 1968 and the St. Petersburg District in 1980.
