On February 2 through 6, a group of Hispanic leaders of the Florida Conference went to Cuba to visit their District Conferences with the purpose of getting to know the ministry of the Methodist Church in Cuba and helping promote the "Methodists United in Prayer" ministry among Hispanic congregations in Florida. The delegation was composed of Icel Rodriguez (Director of Global Mission), Nelida Morales (President of the UMW of the Florida Conference), Rev. Gary Garay (President of the Hispanic Assembly), Rev. Amparito Garay (Evangelist), Rev. Eduardo Cortés (Pastor at “Nueva Vida” UMC) and Pablo Hernández (lay leader at “Tabernaculo de Refugio” UMC).
Rodriguez produced a video report on the Methodist Church in Santa Clara, Cuba. "This a vital church community that seeks to transform the world by transforming the community around it, in the name of Jesus Christ," she said.
