LAKELAND -- Rev. David Fuquay, former director of the Gator Wesley Foundation, has accepted the position of the Florida Conference Director for BHECM (Board of Higher Education Campus Ministry), according to Conference Director of Connectional Ministries Beth Fogle-Miller. His anticipated start date is July 1, 2012.
Fuquay served as the interim, part-time Florida Conference director from July 1, 2011 until he accepted the permanent assignment this week.
David served the Gator Wesley Foundation at the University of Florida since January 2006, leading the ministry through a time of enormous change. Over a five-year period, he shepherded the construction of a new $4.5 million campus ministry facility, guided an affiliated congregation through the process of discontinuance, re-incorporated the ministry with a new Board of Directors, and led the campus ministry into a period of exponential growth. The Conference is conducting a search for Fuquay’s successor as director for the Gator Wesley campus ministry.
“The opportunity to serve as director of BHECM is a chance to give back to those who have given so much to me over the last few years,” said Fuquay. “I am both humbled and excited to be a part of their lives and ministries in a new way, and to oversee the continued rapid growth and influence of Wesley Foundations on all college campuses across the Florida Conference.”
“I am delighted that David accepted the position and joins our team on a full-time basis,” Fogle-Miller said. “His leadership will strengthen the current ministries and lay a good foundation to prepare for new opportunities.”
David is an ordained elder in the Mississippi Conference, and has served 15 years in youth and college ministry. He earned a B.A. in Religious Studies from Millsaps College and his Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School.
