Volunteers from United Methodist churches throughout Florida fed the hungry, clothed the poor and supplied toys and gifts to those who otherwise would do without at Christmas.
At least two of those congregations – Ridge Manor Community UMC in Hernando County and First UMC, Mount Dora – were recognized in media reports for taking time away from their personal celebrations on Christmas Day to spread cheer to others.
to read a Bay News 9 report about Ridge Manor Community UMC's "drive-by Christmas" deliveries to 200 families in need in Pasco and Hernando counties.
to read a Daily Commercial account describing how the Mount Dora church teamed up with New Life Presbyterian Church of Fruitland Park to provide almost 250 free Christmas dinners to families in Lake County.
