A Journey of Service

Missions and Outreach

We are following the work of Deb Ralph of Oakhurst UMC in Seminole as she serves in the mission fields of Kenya.

She left Florida in November and could stay for as long as five years. She is assisting Bishop Daniel A. Wandabula with a project for disabled children.

As she explained, “In November 2016, the Holy Spirit started to put Africa on my heart, and I began to talk about it with my closest friends and pastors. I kept seeing Africa everywhere I went.”

She has made several missionary trips to Kenya since then, but this is the most ambitious

“After another trip in January 2019, the Holy Spirit placed a burden on our hearts for a boarding school/home for disabled children,” she said.

She is sharing occasional video updates of the work with which she is involved.

“I have been here over two months now and really settling into the culture well. I am making good progress in learning ki-swahili the national language,” she said.

“The project renovations are almost finished but we are needing more funds for putting in the water tank and plumbing, electrical work and septic tank.”

Oakhurst UMC is doing fund-raising to support this ministry.
