WAHNETA — Lights are back on at a Spanish mission in this impoverished community near Winter Haven, home to a predominantly Hispanic population that includes many migrant families and the working poor.
The Methodist campus that includes a church and community center was shuttered in 2017 after several stagnant years and flagging support from the faith-based community.
Thanks to renewed interest from the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and St. John’s United Methodist in Winter Haven, the mission is open for business with a new name: Casa Vida, or house of life.
