Candler Licensing School - Independent Learning Cohort
In response to a request from multiple conferences, Candler has created an Independent Learning format for
Licensing School students who either (1) are a member in an annual conference that does not host its own
school or (2) were unable to attend their own annual conference’s school.
The Independent Learning format is an asynchronous and self-paced online program.
WHO MAY ATTEND?
Students must be a Certified Candidate in their annual conference and have district & conference approval in
order to attend.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE SCHOOL?
- Students have 12 weeks from their start date to complete the school.
- Students may begin the school on any Friday they choose (everyone starts and ends on Fridays). Once they have selected their start date, Candler will send them a sched
EXPECTATIONS
- Students should expect to work on their assignments approximately 10 hours/week if they choose to take the full 12 weeks to complete the school. Students are welcome to complete it in a shorter period of time if they choose.
GRADING
- Students will take quizzes and write papers in order to show their mastery of each subject area.
- Grading consists of pass/fail. If a student fails a quiz, they have the opportunity to re-take it. If a student’s written assignment is graded as unsatisfactory, they have the opportunity to rewrite it until it is graded as satisfactory. Our goal is for every student to learn the material and pass the school!
