Florida Bishop Carter will be participating in Florida Advocacy Days starting with the Hanging of the Hands event at the Capitol, Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at 4:00 through the Tuesday Prayer Breakfast and the March to the Capitol. Come join him!

It is almost time to join together in Tallahassee as brothers and sisters in Christ for The Annual Children’s Week and Florida Advocacy Days.  Together we will learn about critical justice issues affecting children in ALL of our communities throughout Florida.

As we prepare, we invite you to read the book “The Third Reconstruction” by The Reverend Dr. William J. Barber II.

Dr. Barber is a religious and civic leader who has been compared to the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr as he raises issues of moral conscience and leadership for living and serving in the times in which we live.  In this book you will gain knowledge and insight that will be applicable to our time together.

We are aware the book comes in the following formats:  Kindle (they also have a free app), Hardcover, Paperback, Audio Book and Audio CD.

You may click here to view a video of Dr. Barber as he speaks regarding "When Silence is not an Option."

Take time to invest in our time together which is also an investment in the Children of Florida.

See you in Tallahassee!

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy."

                                                      ~Proverbs 31:8 NIV

You are invited to join your voice with other brothers and sisters in Christ as we gather in Tallahassee during Annual Children's Week. Together we will learn about critical justice issues affecting children in all of our communities throughout Florida.

The United Methodist Church and the African Methodist Episcopal Church will come together for a day of prayer and learning as we prepare to meet with our legislators and advocate on behalf of "those who cannot speak for themselves."
