Fresh Expressions North East
Fresh Expressions was created to be a form of church for the changing culture, established primarily for the benefit of people who are not yet members of any church. These communities come into being through principles of listening, service, contextual mission, and making disciples and have the potential to become mature expressions of church shaped by the Gospel. Our District Fresh Expressions Team
In January 2019, the North East District formed a District Fresh Expressions Team. Early on, we attempted to schedule a Vision Day in April. However, registration was very low and we quickly realized that our District needed more hands-on and smaller-sized training opportunities.
In August we held Fresh Expressions Brown Bag Training Sessions over three weeks at nine different locations throughout the District. We had great success at these sessions with over ??? people in attendance.
So now we are trying to figure out What's Next in our District. We are currently working on a few ideas but are highly recommending to those that are interested in starting a Fresh Expression but need a little more understanding of what one looks like up close and personal, to take a Fresh Expressions Field Trip - click here to learn more.
Our other next steps include some coaching opportunities, maybe a book study on Fresh Expressions-specific books, and maybe future Brown Bag Training Sessions in 2020 for those who didn't get a chance to attend the ones in August 2019.
In September, we are offering an opportunity to visit with Rev. Dr. Michael Moynagh, one of the earliest creators and adapters of Fresh Expressions. Come and join him on September 12.

On Mission Together - Through Fresh Expressions
"Go and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19) As United Methodists we are called to make disciples for the transformation of the world. But how? The answer to study of that answer is called missiology. We once thought missions were something that only happened overseas but the reality is the mission field is at our front door.
Come and listen to Rev. Dr. Michael Moynagh, a renowned missiologist and early creator and adapter of Fresh Expressions in England on Thursday, September 12, 2019, 4 p.m. @ River of Life UMC, 2600 Race Track Rd Jacksonville Florida, 32259. Hear how Rev. Moynagh and others have been successful in reaching people for Jesus in a post-Christian context. Learn how to reach new people in your area for Jesus in new ways! This is your opportunity to learn from one of the brightest and best in disciple making!
