Spring Lay Servant Training April 5-6, 2019
Palm Coast UMC | Palm Coast, FL
Classes will run on Friday, April 5, 2019 (6:30-9 p.m. ) and Saturday, April 6, 2019 (8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.) with lunch and snacks provided. The classes will be held at Palm Coast | 5200 Belle Terre Pkwy | Palm Coast, FL 32137. Class sizes are limited to 15 students per class.
We are offering the following class selections (please note that you must purchase your own book in advance**):
- Basic Lay Servant Class with Beverly Patrick - This basic course includes a study of what it means to be God’s called people and how we may be at work for God in our own communities. The course provides learning opportunities in three areas of service for lay speakers: leading, caring and communicating. - Living Our United Methodist Beliefs with Rev. Jeanine Clontz - (Advanced Lay Servant) This course will explore the special gifts of theology, witness and organization that The United Methodist Church brings to the church universal, how we got where we are today, and how our distinctive emphases are still needed in the 21st century church. Required book – Living Our Beliefs: The United Methodist Way by Kenneth L. Carder – ISBN #978-0-88177-571-6**
- Class Leaders with Rev. Kevin James - (Advanced Lay Servant) This course will explore the office of class leader in the Wesleyan Methodist tradition. It examines the need for recovering the lay pastoral ministry of the class leader for the 21st century church. Required book – Class Leaders: Recovering a Tradition by David Lowes Watson– ISBN #978-15791-0954-7**
