This was found in an article recently, and I read it several times, realizing each time how amazing God’s love is for his people. So here goes” (with slight adaptation) “The Bible is God’s love letter to humanity and His instruction manual for humanity. Between the pages of the Bible you’ll find truth to believe, promises to claim, commands to obey, and examples to follow. 1 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
The Bible tells us about God, about ourselves, and about how to live--now and eternally. The Bible helps us know God, love God, and follow God, but it also helps us understand humankind. Within its pages we can find God’s master plan of salvation and, how we can have assurance of God’s forgiveness and salvation through Jesus. In fact, God’s love and plan to save people is woven throughout the entire Bible--Old Testament and New Testament.
So why am I telling you what as a believer, you probably already know? Lay Servant Ministry courses are Biblically based and they explore and expand on how to reach others for Christ. As you share with others what the Bible teaches, the hope is that you will gain a greater understanding of God’s LOVE!
Jim and I wanted to personally invite you to attend the fall Lay Servant Training Event on Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15, 2018 at First UMC of Lake Alfred. If you have never attended a LSM class, the Beginner’s class (Basic) is for you. In both English and Spanish, you will be taken on a journey to help you discover where God has called you to serve.
Are you already serving in a leadership role at your local church? Attend one of the advanced classes for help in your role – the Discipleship System, resolving conflict and creating harmony; how to form missional communities and congregations are the courses offered in English. Llamados a Ser Siervos de Dios, the advanced course taught in Spanish.
Please join us for a time of worship, learning and fellowship as we prepare to serve our churches and communities as Lay Servant leaders and, as God’s servant. Please check our District website and register as early as you are able so that we can prepare for you properly. So hope you join us in September at Lake Alfred and let us be in the word! Y’all come and join us in the vineyard, Jim & Lynn
