The General Conference of the United Methodist Church established a welfare benefit plan for clergy effective 1/1/1982. The General Board maintains the Comprehensive Protection Plan, more commonly known as the CPP plan, for the benefit of clergy in the United Methodist Church.
The claims administrator for the disability benefits under the plan is Unum Life Insurance Company of America and they have been delegated administrative authority to review and recommend approval or denial of claims for disability benefits.
If you are appointed to a church or the Florida Conference office, you may be eligible for coverage under the plan. Eligibility is determined by full time appointment and compensation that is at least 60% of the denominational average compensation (DAC). If you have questions regarding the disability plan, please contact the Florida Conference Benefits Office.
