COLLEGE HEIGHTS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH is hiring a part-time Music Director (15-20 hours/week) for our traditional worship service. The music director must have education and experience in choral work, planning, conducting and general study of liturgical music, or experience that would be comparable. Starting date for this position will be in January 2019. General responsibilities for this position are listed below.
General Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
A.Will have broad repertoire suitable for general worship and special services;
B.Is responsible for the planning and preparation of the adult choir for one service weekly through the year, plus special services as required;
C.Is responsible for the planning and preparation of the children’s choir and handbell choir and for playing in Sunday worship service quarterly (minimum).
D.Functions as a member of the church staff in carrying out the overall program of the church;
E.Participates in worship planning and evaluation, and attends worship team and staff meetings called by the pastor;
F.Identifies, recruits, and trains individuals and encourages those persons as they become involved in the music ministry;
G.Prepares the annual budget request;
H.Ensures the care, maintenance, and inventory of all music and equipment;
I.Seeks to select and use music which brings glory to God and ministers to the congregation.
