Position:         Maintenance Technician I
Status:            Full-time, Non-exempt
Reports To:    Maintenance Manager
 
Job description:
Maintenance Technician I is an entry level position.  The ideal candidate will be a teachable, versatile, mechanically inclined individual with a desire to serve our guests’ needs as they grow in community and connect with Christ. 
 
Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and routine/preventive maintenance tasks related to air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electricity, pest control, pool care, grounds care, water and waste water treatment, small engine and vehicles as directed daily by Maintenance Manager
  • Perform emergency repairs as directed by On-Call Host after normal working hours when scheduled as the On-Call Maintenance Technician
  • Drive to vendors to purchase materials, supplies and parts for Maintenance Department as requested
  • Occasionally assist Housekeeping and Group Services Departments with cleaning and meeting room setup responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
General Responsibilities:
  • Survey and maintain camp and conference center facility systems and equipment in cooperation with other year-round and seasonal staff including maintenance technicians, housekeepers, group services staff, work-campers and volunteers
  • Show courtesy and hospitality in all guest interactions
  • Maintain high level of order and care pertaining to tools and equipment
Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, pool care and other construction and/or maintenance experience is preferred but not required
  • Mechanically inclined with the desire and drive to develop a working knowledge of camp and conference center facility systems and equipment including but not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electrical, pest control, pool care, grounds care, water and waste water treatment, small engine and vehicles
  • Ability to thrive in a Christian setting
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends
  • Teachable, self-motivated, honest, dependable, orderly
  • Ability to work alone or with others
  • Capable of successfully passing a criminal background screen and a Motor Vehicle Records check
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds repetitively
  • Ability to walk and stand for several hours at a time
  • Ability to work outside in the Florida climate
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Ability to use power and hand tools
  • Ability to climb ladder
