Children's Ministry Director for Citrus Church


We’re looking for a Children’s Ministry Leader with a passion for children aged 6 weeks to 5th grade to experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ. This person will build, train, and lead a team of teachers to invest in the spiritual development of children using the Think Orange curriculum. This exempt position is part-time averaging 18 hours/week

Weekly Responsibilities

The Children's Director will be responsible for organizing weekly First Look Orange Curriculum, creating a weekly schedule with activities around the curriculum, putting together supplies for each activity, and coordinating the weekly teacher/staff/volunteer schedule for each age group, 0 to 2, 3 to 6, and grades 1st through 5th.

The Children's Director will also act as the main teacher for one of the above mentioned age groups each Sunday.

The Children's Director will be knowledgeable on Citrus Church Seedling check in, "Planning Center" and help train volunteers and parents on how to maneuver the process.

The Children's Director will follow up with first time visitors (children) by reaching out with a card or email to thank them for visiting.

The Children's Director will be able to navigate social media, specifically Facebook as a way to keep in touch with the Citrus Church families with children, post upcoming children/family events, pictures etc.

The Children's Director will have specific office hours two to three days during the week and access to Citrus Church's resource room to prepare lessons and activities.

The Children's Director will attend a weekly staff meeting on Tuesday mornings with all church staff, for prayer, vision, and sharing updates and concerns with all Citrus Leaders.

Monthly Responsibilities

The Children's Director will coordinate monthly meetings with all children workers staff and volunteers (as necessary) to ensure the materials and supplies are prepped for the teachers. This will also include being in contact via email to send out lesson plans, music, etc. and communicate and answer questions with the teachers.

The Children's Director will attend Launch team meetings and provide childcare either by scheduling a teacher or leading it during all monthly Launch team meetings.

The Children's Director will Create opportunities for children's center activities, for example "Drive in Movie Night", "Messy Church", etc each month.

Yearly Responsibilities

The Children's Director will coordinate and direct the Vacation Bible School for children 0 to 5th grade. Help with all plans of organizing, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing each aspect of VBS.

The Children's Director will prepare and carry out an Advent workshop and Christmas activity for children and families.

Additional Responsibilities

The Children's Director will be knowledgeable on Citrus Church's "Teach Beside Me" program, a Mommy/Daddy and Me preschool co-op program offered to families in our community. The Children's Director may attend periodically to get to know the families and share a special activity. 

The Children's Director will pass a local & federal background check. 

The Children's Director will ensure all proper background checks are done and approved for any teachers and volunteers for the children's ministry.

The Children's Director will be familiar and knowledgeable and comply with all of the rules put together by the United Methodist Church Conference in the Child/Youth Protection Policy.
