Reports to: Pastor of The Gathering Place                                                   Position:  Full-time
 
Job Summary: To lead and direct The Gathering Place in creating a unique worship experience where folks encounter God and others in different ways. This position will devote energies and action to coordinating the implementation of the mission, vision and values of The Gathering Place(TGP) by providing worship and administrative support to staff and laity.
 
About The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place is a new worshiping community out of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach.
 
The Gathering Place’s mission is to gather differently, welcome everybody, and love abundantly so all can encounter God and neighbor in new and meaningful ways. We do this by going beyond the four walls of the church, gathering online and across the Daytona Beach area.
 
The Gathering Place exists to rediscover the ways people of faith (and those curious about a life of faith) gather and encounter God. We are inspired by Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:10: "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”
 
The role of the Worship & Ministry Coordinator is to help us discover creative ways to share the message through music and arts both online and in-person. This includes songs, specials, drama, video, stage design, graphics, and more on various platforms like Facebook, Instagram Live, TikTok, etc. Our worship style is influenced by the music of All Sons and Daughters, Rend Collective, Hillsong, and Housefires (extremely open to creative forms of worship style: gospel, hip hop, folk, pop, contextually appropriate secular music, etc.)
 
Education and Experience
High School diploma
Experience in leading worship
Minimum associate degree
 
Knowledge
English Language
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
 
Job Description

  • Build, oversee and nurture the teams for vocals, band, tech, drama and multimedia.
  • Contribute to the worship gathering by accompanying, singing, leading, etc.
  • Planning, directing and coordinating rehearsals required for the weekly worship gathering in a timely manner.
  • Select relevant songs across genres and styles appropriate to our community’s context.
  • Work with the Pastor of The Gathering Place and FUMC Director of Worship and Arts with vision, brainstorming, and producing creative ideas for use in the worship gatherings and special events.
  • Co-coordinate all worship elements contributing to the gatherings and special events both online and in-person
  • Responsible for issues related to audio, video, lighting, or music equipment, supplies, etc, including repair, purchases and budget management or oversee volunteers in these matters.
  • Planning and coordination for Sunday worship gatherings, including recruiting and developing volunteers.
  • Promote the vision and mission of The Gathering Place/FUMC.
  • Produce mass communications via email, text, social media, and other relevant communication platforms.
  • Coordinate with First United on membership database system edits, attendance, and visitor management. Keep ministry and worship attendance reports up to date.
  • Collaborate with pastor in meetings, take notes from meetings, and implement directives from the Launch Team.
  • Create systems and processes for welcoming new visitors and inputting their information in database.
  • At the direction of the pastor, and using pre-approved ministry financial resources, make purchases as required.
  • Coordinate and execute special event planning, including but not limited to hiring vendors, staffing volunteers, securing venues, and security. Responsible for supervising the event for a successful outcome.
  • Ensure processing of invoices and charges from The Gathering Place budget are given to First United administrative staff for prompt payment.
  • Review and organize TGP contracts, software renewals and other relevant agreements for terms and conditions, renewal dates and best value.
  • Collaborate with Pastor and Launch Team on meeting our goal of increasing worship attendance and engagement with the community .
 
Other Qualifications:
  • A follower of Jesus Christ with an appreciation of the United Methodist Church, Wesleyan theology, and mission/vision of The Gathering Place and First United.
  • Ability to lead worship vocally with either an acoustic/electric guitar or keyboard.
  • Support for First United and The Gathering Place’s core values- gathering differently, inclusivity, service & justice oriented, curiosity, growth, & rest.
  • The ability to enlist and grow a worship team and ministry volunteers
  • The ability to lead people into authentic worship.
  • Energetic, creative, and open to exploring a diversity of worship styles
  • Knowledge in operating audio systems, video-recording, various social media platforms, and related technical operations.
