Finance Assistant

Title:   Finance Assistant
Supervision: Finance Manager
Compensation:  Part-time, Non-exempt (25 hours a week)
 
Working Relationships:  The Finance Assistant reports directly to the Finance Manager and works closely with the Finance Coordinator.  The Finance Assistant will coordinate with other staff members and congregants as needed.
 
General Job Description:  The Finance Assistant is primarily responsible for processing all financial daily activities to include, contributions, accounts payable, and general ledger entries for NCUMC.

  • Ability to work with a servant attitude in a cooperative team spirit Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Church financial experience preferred
  • Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft office required, and Shelby Financials preferred
Primary Duties:
  • Maintain the accounting records of all funds associated with Helping Hands, Bargains & Blessings, and Food Pantry ministries
  • Record weekly contributions into our financial systems to ensure proper accounting of monies given
  • Process accounts payable transactions to ensure accurate reporting of all expenses
  • Prepare all necessary journal entries monthly
  • Reconcile all accounts monthly
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly
  • Assist Finance Coordinator as needed with daily activities
  • Prepare financial reports as required or requested
  • Participate and assist in internal/external audits
  • Maintain all financial records in an organized manner
  • Send acknowledgment letters of memorial contributions or gifts to NCUMC
  • Provide back-up support to Finance Manager for payroll processing
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Finance Manager
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
