Youth Director/Worship Technical Director

This combined position will play a key role in both youth ministries and the technical aspect of worship. This person will share the good news of Jesus Christ to all persons, and communicate the joy, justice, grace, and acceptance that following Christ brings. In overseeing youth ministries this individual will provide leadership for programs and missions for youth. Emphasis will be on developing Christian discipleship of our youth through active participation by the youth, and strong support and direction from the adult members of the congregation. In overseeing the technical aspect of worship, this person will be responsible for planning, managing and implementing all aspects of the technical side of worship, including, but not limited to live-streaming, video recording, audio and video, lighting, all multi-media including worship slides and all other technical arts programs. Because of the nature of this position, this person must be able to multi-task, work independently and within a team, prioritize and manage their own time effectively.


Core Duties (Youth Director):

  • Provide Christian instruction and guidance for students that invites them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Develop weekly event plans for high school and middle school youth groups that meet the needs of our diverse youth population.

  • Work with and oversee the Student Ministry Coordinator in the facilitation of all youth ministry programs

  • Abide by FUMC Boca Raton’s Child/Youth Protection Policy.

  • Develop positive, healthy, and affirming relationships with youth and families of youth.

  • Encourage youth worship participation in worship.

  • Provide opportunities and encourage youth to engage in service and mission both inside and outside the church.

  • Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed.

  • Assist in the development of youth leaders and volunteers.

  • Keep accurate records of youth involvement and attendance.


Core Duties (Worship Technical Director):

  • Ensure all worship technical systems are in place and operating efficiently, including proper wifi service and settings in worship spaces.

  • Oversee and schedule all worship technical staff and volunteers.

  • Create and manage a quality worship live streaming system.

  • Work with musicians, worship arts people, pastors and office staff to ensure all aspects of worship services are planned and operate smoothly from a technical perspective.

  • Attend all worship services and special events requiring technical support and schedule and oversee staff and volunteers at these services and events

  • Train and develop all worship technical staff and volunteers.

  • Work closely with the pastoral team in planning and implementing worship from a technical perspective.

  • Consult and work closely with the Director of Music regarding the technical needs of musicians.

  • Leadership experience in Youth Ministry and technical aspects of worship required.

  • A vision for and a demonstrated ability to execute youth ministry within the parameters of the church

  • A thorough understanding of all technical aspects of worship including Wifi management, audio equipment, computer programs related to worship (I.e. Media Shout), lighting boards and systems, video recording and livestream equipment, programs and platforms.

  • Experience with worship planning software (I.e Planning Center)

  • Excellent conflict management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field(s) preferred.
