Position: Praise Band Director   
 
Status: Part-time
Occupational Summary:
The Praise Band Director is primarily responsible for musical and worship leadership for the 9:15 ­­contemporary worship service. In cooperation with the pastor and appropriate staff persons the Praise Band Director will facilitate the planning, organizing, recruiting, conducting and evaluation of the 9:15 contemporary worship service and Holiday Worship (Christmas and Holy Week/ Easter). This position is encouraged to help others develop their God-given talents and abilities to present God’s Word, through music, in an effective manner. This position may be asked to offer musical support for some church-wide events each year. The Praise Band Director is also encouraged to represent the concerns of music at weekly staff meetings, monthly leadership board meetings, and the annual charge conference.
General Qualifications:
A candidate for the position of Praise Band Director shall be grounded in basic Christian doctrine, having and professing faith in Jesus Christ. He/she shall agree to uphold all Church Personnel Policies and Procedures. He/she shall be familiar and in consonance with Wesleyan theology, United Methodist Church Polity and practice. He/she must have a thorough understanding of leading worship with a minimum of two years of worship leadership experience. He/she shall demonstrate the managerial skills necessary to carry out their duties.

Reports to: Appointed Pastor
Work Performed:
ADMINISTRATION

  1. Weekly worship planning.
  2. Worship Ministry report to be submitted for weekly staff meeting.
  3. Prepare and oversee annual contemporary worship service budget.
  4. Communicate weekly about worship plans to the pastor and volunteers.
  5. Administrative support for the pastor in relation to worship.
  6. Coordinate and oversee setup on Sunday morning.
  7. Maintain Planning Center Online (or equivalent worship organizational tools) with updated information.                                                                                                                          
    1. Input, organize, and manage worship service orders, upcoming sermons/series. Schedule and communicate with musicians and tech volunteers needed for weekly worship.
    2. Input songs, set lists, chord charts, mp3s, and video tutorial.
  8. Oversees media and worship images for the service.
  9. Weekly input of slides/graphics for worship, including lyrics slides, videos, liturgy, etc. in worship presentation software.
WORSHIP BAND
  1. Provides musical and spiritual leadership to a full worship band.
  2. Schedule auditions and choose new members as needed.
  3. Organize, schedule, and manage worship band.
  4. Facilitate and run a sufficient mid-week rehearsal.
MUSIC/EQUIPMENT
  1. Maintain all musical equipment used.
  2. Select and/or order new musical pieces for performance and have music ready for rehearsal.
  3. Ensure lyric slides are completed and in compliance with CCLI.
  4. Select music in accordance with the scriptural sermon-series.
  5. Organize music for all band members.
