Disaster Case Manager


Disaster Recovery, a ministry of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, has an immediate need for disaster case managers to work with residents affected by Hurricane Irma (2017) in Clay and St. Johns Counties. The disaster case manager partners with disaster-affected individuals or families (clients) to plan for and achieve realistic goals for recovery following a disaster. The disaster case manager assists the client in identifying and coordinating services and resources to meet the client’s recovery needs. The disaster case manager relies on the client to play an active or lead role in their own recovery, empowering the client to take ownership of their recovery. Disaster case managers are compassionate listeners who encourage their clients and when necessary, advocate on their behalf. Qualifications include: good listening skills, attention to detail, computer literate, ability to research, problem solver, self-starter who works well without supervision, and a good communicator (written and oral). This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with benefits. Disaster case managers are conference employees funded by an UMCOR grant.
