We are searching for an experienced Comptroller to account and safeguard the financial assets that support and enable our variety of church initiatives.

The Comptroller for Trinity United Methodist Church performs all payroll-related duties, accounting, and financial reporting, including, among others, member contributions and online giving, bank account reconciliations, processing investment/endowment account transactions, journal recordings and entries, tax-related filings, preparation of financial reports for committees, and budget preparation.

Together with experience in applying generally accepted accounting principles, the ideal candidate will possess the ability and experience to analyze figures, forecast outcomes, and provide financial recommendations to church leadership. Prior experience with payroll processing and related payroll tax obligations is required. The Comptroller we seek employs attentive listening skills with a desire to serve and demonstrate patience when addressing issues and solving problems. Intrinsic traits also required for this position include: discretion, integrity, kindness, and goodwill; acting as a thoughtful and vigilant steward of the ministry’s assets. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, payroll, A/P and A/R, budgets, financial statement development, and reporting. He or she must demonstrate mathematical acuity with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.  Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.  Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the home community required.
