We are searching for an experienced Director of Human Resources and Operations with a passion and appreciation for the principles of servant leadership, integrity, and the pursuit of excellence to support the over 100 staff who focus on these church initiatives: promoting and sustaining our faith that combines head and heart and hand.
This unique position will manage all day-to-day HR functions including, but not limited to: recruiting staff (including background checks and driver qualification processes); policy development, implementation, and enforcement; performance management; training and employee development; compensation and benefits management (including FLSA compliance); employee relations; records retention; and regulatory compliance.
The Director of Human Resources and Operations will also oversee the Facilities, Finance, and Communication Departments, managing and leading the general business operations of the church. This pivotal position works closely with and reports directly to the Co-Pastors.
Along with traditional HR skills such as ability to maintain confidentiality, build rapport, excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical ability, and professionalism; knowledge of state and federal employment regulations and HR best practices, we seek a Director of Human Resources and Operations who is “hands-on” and friendly, self-motivated, efficient, solutions-oriented, flexible, trustworthy, and comfortable promoting and demonstrating a servant style of leadership. He/she must exhibit good judgment and integrity and must have strong organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving skills. The right individual will also have business acumen, a collaborative style, and consensus-building skills.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ prior HR management experience in a position with responsibility for the HR, Finance, and Operations functions noted above. Previous experience with operational and personnel supervision over multiple departments of an organization is required. A commitment to Christ through church and growing in personal faith, along with a willingness to commit to the vision of Trinity United Methodist Church and its ministries is required. Prior HR experience at a church, ministry, or other non-profit organization preferred. BA/BS in Business, Human Resources, or a related field required. HR certification preferred. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the home community required.
