First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, Florida, a vital and active congregation, with an average attendance of 1,600 and a staff of 115, is searching for a full time Director of Mission Ministries.

The Director of Missions has the responsibility to encourage and help people progress in their faith-journey, developing and deepening their personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the development of a comprehensive program of Christian mission outreach both locally and globally. Helping people to understand and act on the Great Commission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and to deploy faithful witnesses for Him who are led to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God at home and throughout the world.The Director of Missions Ministries must have a thorough understanding of the missions ministry to all age groups and shall demonstrate managerial skills necessary to oversee volunteers and programs of the Missions Ministry. He/she shall be committed to and seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth, willing and able to work with other staff/areas of the ministry of this church in a collegial manner

The mission of First United Methodist Church is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus calls His disciple to " .. go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
