Paulette Monroe is new Conference lay leaderOn the Move
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord…(Jer. 29:11)
I understand that one of my primary roles is to advocate for and to be a representative of the laity, working in partnership with the bishop to represent the interests of the laity. I understand that I am to foster the awareness of the role of the laity both within their congregations and through ministries in homes, the workplace, community and the world in achieving the mission of the church. I feel privileged.
I sense the challenge, and I pray that you, too, will accept the challenge with me as we work together to make a difference within our districts and local churches that will reflect being a true loving body of the whole church.
Our job is to go into our communities and to compel the people to come, to seek out the hungry, the homeless, the hurting and build relationships. We are responsible for the future of our church, to model, foster, recognize and to celebrate the ministries of the laity.
As we begin our journey together ask yourself this: “How do I see myself as a lay member of the Florida Annual Conference and in my church? There is only one mission and that is to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ and to be excited about offering Christ to others.
We are called to follow Jesus and grow spiritually through the practice of a variety of Christian habits for the good of the whole church. I believe that.
As your conference lay leader, I will serve to the best of my ability and I accept the challenge to “Go.” I hope that you, too, will accept the challenge to be in partnership with me. Working together we will achieve the Great Commission.
