Grateful for a fruitful year. The Angola Blog
We pray the blessings of God upon you in this New Year!
As we look back to the year 2012, we want to celebrate with you the many ways in which God has blessed us.
The children of Quessua receive Christmas gifts.
Thanks to the generosity of churches and individuals in the Florida Conference and other friends all over the US, we were able to acquire a truck that has served the needs of the community of Quessua in many ways. The truck provided transportation for the students of the Boarding House to attend classes at the Hope of Arica School in the city of Malange. It also provided support for emergency situations and transportation for the two volunteer teams that we hosted through the summer and fall.
These volunteers from churches in the Florida Conference brought much needed support, joy and hope into our ministry. They made repairs to some of the buildings in Quessua (including our house), improved our water supply, led workshops at the School of Theology, helped us launch a sewing community class, led Bible studies in some of the surrounding villages, etc. Through all of that, they accomplished the most important task, to build strong and eternal relationships with our Angolan sisters and brothers.
Last year loved members of our family passed away in Cuba. In the midst of sorrow and loss, we felt the presence of God through the many prayers being lifted up on our behalf. For that cloud of intercessory friends all over the world, we are so grateful.

New churches in the Florida Conference have come forward to enter into a covenant relationship with us. That means that our ministry in Angola can and will continue to go forward. We have no words to express our gratitude to you for this partnership in ministry! We just wished you could see the many ways in which God has used you all to advance His plan in this place.
In the fall, we attended a meeting of the African Association of United Methodist Theological Institutions, in Kenya. What a great opportunity to interact with colleagues from other African countries that are also invested in providing excellence to our Theological education!
Christmas was a season of great joy, as we celebrated the coming of Christ with powerful manifestations of the Spirit, steady attendance growth in our church, baptisms and weddings, and presents for the children and youth. God glorified His name in our midst. To Him be all praise and honor!
We continue to lift up prayers of thanksgiving for you and we ask that you continue to intercede for us. May we all serve God with all that we have and all that we are.
Leo and Cleivy
