Why you need Policies for Online ActivitySocial Media 101 Blog
Policy for online activity is something to seriously consider whether you are currently active in online activity like a Facebook page or considering one for your church. Why? Consider the cautionary tales Sheryl Fancher discusses in her workshop, such as the one about a pastor who did not know his Facebook account was public when he posted derogatory remarks about church members. Who could see this do you ask? The 2011 Pew Internet and American Life Project states, “79 percent of those active in religious groups use the internet, and 46 percent use social media.”. This topic and Sheryl Fancher's workshop are discussed in the article "Churches lag in social media oversight" by Jeff Brumley from abp News.
