"Alpha House -- an Independent Living Program of The Florida United Methodist Children's Home"
What began as the Florida Methodist Orphanage in 1908 in Enterprise, Florida has grown into a diverse and complex ministry to meet the various needs of those who turn to us for help. Our ministry now includes residential care, emergency shelter care, therapeutic group care, independent living, foster care, adoption services and a community child care center. We have approximately 100 children and youth in residence on campus, and 200 in our foster care programs around the state.
Alpha House is our Women/Women & Children Shelter Program, where we provide assistance to female alumni age 18 and over, some who are mothers who have become homeless. This program allows former residents to access safe and supportive housing while learning the basics of parenting and regaining self sufficiency.
This video describes the Independent Living Program, and Brandi Price, a resident, talks about her experience at Alpha House.
