I began my DS Newsletter back in 2011 with this title Help!! Ever Felt That Way?
As I come to the close of my DS ministry I can say that I received a great deal of help over these past 8 years.
My thanks go to our super AA’s – Patti Moxley, Marilyn Waldis; Bruce Kitson, who helps me with church’s vitality and Linda Graham, who was our financial assistant for many years. Without these folks I would have never made it.
To District Lay Leader, Bill Messersmith and all the lay leaders and pastors who served on all the various District Committees, I appreciate your service and willingness to use your gifts to further the Kingdom. Also, to all the lay leaders in all the churches who make up the strength of our churches – God bless and thank you.
I especially enjoyed getting to know all the pastors over these past 8 years. I have observed great leadership, innovative ideas and a faithful loyalty to God’s call on your life.
As I close this chapter, we are in a tough place as a denomination. I want to encourage us all, regardless of our position to work toward having a Heart of Peace toward each other – that is our true witness.
I started with a Scripture in 2011 and so let me close with this passage,
I lift up my eyes to the mountains- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)
Mark your calendars for a clergy day apart with Bishop Carter on Tuesday, September 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Lakeland, Florida. We will not hold regional gatherings this year, so this is your chance to spend time with Bishop Carter, who will speak about resiliency in the midst of our changing context. We hope all clergy will plan to attend.
