This Week’s Storyteller is…
Marcus Smith, New Life Community, Jacksonville
In August 2010 I left Jacksonville, Florida, and the Florida Annual Conference behind to pursue further graduate studies. It was during this three-year period in Pittsburgh that God stretched and grew me in my spiritual maturity. Upon arrival I was blessed with opportunities to staunchly defend the faith against those who would distort the truth. Then there was the kicker: falling for a false doctrine and a "new" kind of Jesus, all under the guise of a United Methodist Church. I became an apostate.
Today, God and the Holy Spirit guide me in addressing these "ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing,” doing what I can as a warrior-apostle for Him, protecting the fullness and inheritance of His church. My story: If it’s not the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, it ain’t Gospel. The LORD Our God has readjusted and rescued my “thinking,” along with providing continuous revelation. I enjoy the Wesley Quadrilateral dearly. You start with Scripture. You end with Scripture. (Deuteronomy 6) I’m back from “the coin’s edges.” Hallelujah!
Up Next Week…
Nikki Dion, University Carillon UMC, Oviedo
The disciple shares her story of being a “Vessel for God’s Grace” and realizing that you don’t have to be on the edge of a cliff to understand that God loves you.
