Homemade Barbecue Sauce

If you want to barbecue meat and don't want to make a trip to the store for sauce, here is a good recipe.

Homemade Barbecue Sauce


1 c minced onion
1 c butter
1/2 c white vinegar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 tsp grated garlic
1 T horseradish
2 T Worcestershire
1 T dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 c chili sauce
1 c tomato puree
1 T liquid smoke

Simmer onion in butter for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 10 minutes longer. This sauce is best served warm with spareribs, beef, hot dogs or hamburgers. Makes 1 quart. Keeps long in refrigerator.
