This is an Americanized version of the English scones.
2/3 c margarine, melted
1/4 c sugar
1/3 c milk
1-1/2 c quick oats, uncooked
1-1/2 c flour
1 T baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c golden raisins
1/2 c chopped walnuts
Combine margarine and sugar. Blend in milk and egg. Add combined remaining ingredients, mixing just until moistened. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 12x9 inch rectangle. Cut into 12 3-inch squares; cut each square in half diagonally. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees, 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with honey or marmalade and additional margarine, if desired. Makes 2 dozen.
