My husband has always loved corn bread. The buttermilk gives it a rich taste.
Buttermilk Corn Bread
Grease a 9x9 inch pan and put in oven till sizzling hot.
1 c corn meal
1 c flour
2 T sugar
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
1-1/4 c buttermilk
2 T melted butter
2 well-beaten eggs
Add liquids to dry ingredients. Beat only until blended. Bake 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
